Valley Dweller

So, I've been waiting
Waiting for the stars to align
But I'm a valley dweller
And valley dwellers only see the incline
And I've been hoping
Hoping you don't stray too far
On account of we're close again
We're close again but no cigar

Such a shame about pieces missing
I sat and watched them drift away with you
Don't hesitate as the end draws nearer
Seize the day with the courage of the few

So, I've had enough of crossroads
They're driving me away from your coast
And as I look into the rear-view mirror
I'll drink it over, I propose a toast:
"Seize the Day!"

So I've been waiting for the stars to align
And I've been hoping you don't stray too far
But valley dwellers only see the incline
Yes, we're close again but no cigar!

Refuse

Every time I try to close in on anything that is in my mind
It tries to run and hide behind an image there and it's you I find
My head's too clumsy for a tiny idea
Too overwhelmed to handle anything big
It's been a long time since I had it together
Now I'm standing on my own grave
I refuse to dig
Any time I feel so inclined I just have to remember to never give in
It's in your head, all of your fears and it really doesn't matter if there's anything on in there
I refuse
Every time I try to close in on anything that is in my mind
It tries to run and hide behind an image there and it's you I find
I refuse

Out of Control

Note to self:

There is a thief taking all of your time
There is no reason, no reason or rhyme
I know it's all there potentially,
but I still hear no melodies
So much art you never did complete
Nobody nodding their head to your beat

So tell me just how you feel,
about the things that up to now remain concealed
Inertia went and left you down at heel
Steer your vessel to a special place you thought so unreal
So turn a new page, catch a few rays,
At the next phase of your goal
Or is it out of control?

Procrastination was the norm
There was no closure due to my form
Hoped it would just happen eventually,
but no one never ever heard those harmonies
None are here very long,
so play your tune and sing your song

An ocean sailed upon just may reveal,
all the things that up to now remained concealed
Seize the moment, you can take the wheel,
and steer your vessel to a special place you thought so unreal
Look in the mirror, is it clearer?
Are you nearer to your goal?
Or is it out of control?

I realised something, a shot across my bow
The future holds nothing if we don't make it, take it now!

Are you nearer to your goal?
Or is it out of control?
Or is it out of control?

Liberty Captain

It was a nondescript day, I spent the morning with friends in a mushroom field, yeah, being led astray
To take me through a doorway I picked a large bouquet, it was my remedy but I'd opened myself to jeopardy

And so I soon felt dismayed, I realized I'd mixed them up with some toadstools and some deadly nightshade, it made me feel afraid, I called the fire brigade and when they rescued me I was naked and raving up in a tree

And so it haunted me, you know I thought about it constantly, yeah, when in therapy I took the dog with me, just for the company, we knew each other's needs, well, it must have been her pedigree

And as we walked in the rain I caught a glimpse of a kid watching with his face pushed right up against the window pane, and like some kind of birdbrain I tripped headfirst into a storm drain. He laughed at the hilarity and I thought to myself "Ain't that just like me"!

He's come along, he's taken all his clothes off
He's smeared himself in marmalade and he's climbed up a tree
He's, he's, he's, he's lost it
Come down son, come down, before you hurt yourself
This ain't gonna end well
I can hear the fire brigade, they're coming, here they come
It's alright lads, it's alright now

These memories of the intensity have taught me how to guarantee, when the summer's over let's go over to those fields again!

A Stranger at Home

If you had a question could you ask it?
Would it be answered or would it create conflict?
Sooner or later we all come undone
Sooner or later you're gonna need someone

How could you remain unchanged?
Now it's been shown you're a stranger at home

If offered affection would you take it?
Could you be tempted or stay steadfast adrift?
A giver or taker, which have you become?
A giver or taker, it's up for consideration

How could you remain unchanged?
Now it's been shown you're a stranger at home

Now I don't drink anything...but whiskey or wine
And I don't smoke anymore... than one smoke at a time
'Coz sooner or later we all come undone
Sooner or later you're gonna need someone

Ladders

Do you feel we're in the crosshairs of several billionaires?
and with an attitude so laissez-faire; we lose faith, and healthcare.

They're pulling up the ladders, the joke's on all of us,
they're pulling up the ladders now that we're superfluous.
And then they'll flood the basement and then they'll start to laugh.
They're pulling up the ladders, this is how it starts.

Now our rags are threadbare, now we're looking elsewhere,
we're no longer unaware.
The can's open, worms everywhere! There's worms everywhere!

They're pulling up the ladders, they'll claim "it is a must",
they're pulling up the ladders now that we're too numerous.
And then they'll flood the basement, obliterate your past.
They're pulling up the ladders, this is how it starts.

This is how it starts.
Can open, worms everywhere!

This is how it starts, this is how it starts,
this is how it starts, this is how it starts.

This is how it starts.
We lose faith, and healthcare.
